Jack Ryan, Amazon’s new spy thriller based on the character from Tom Clancy’s novels, will launch on August 21st.
The series marks the TV debut of the character who has been played by Alex Baldwin and Harrison Ford on the big screen and is played by John Krasinski (13 Hours, The Office) in this new take on the character.
Although it ditches Clancy’s Cold War plots for an original storyline the show features fan-favourite characters, including James Greer (Wendell Pierce), and follows the titular character as he uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him into the centre of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.
The show’s launch will be supported by Prime Video’s first-ever Super Bowl advert.
“Given the colossal scope and scale of the series coupled with the popularity of Tom Clancy’s novels, we knew Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan would be a natural fit for Prime Video’s first Super Bowl ad,” said Mike Benson, Head of Marketing for Amazon Studios.
“The global nature of the audience provides us with a unique opportunity to give viewers a look at this thrilling new series coming to Prime.”
Amazon Prime Video can be accessed on selected Smart TVs, via smartphone and tablet apps and via Amazon’s Fire TV stick and Fire TV and is free to Amazon Prime customers.
The service is also available with a stand-alone subscription.
