Tom Hughes (The Game, Dancing on the Edge, Silk) is joining Doctor Who star Jenna Coleman in ITV’s new historical drama, Victoria.
Hughes wil play Prince Albert in the 8-part series which follows the early life of Victoria from her ascension to the throne at the tender age of 18, through to her courtship and marriage to Albert.
Hughes said: “I’m delighted to be part of this project. Victoria and Albert’s story is one that not only had a lasting impact on this country’s history, but also provides a rich depth of material to create an engaging and powerful series.”
Previously announced cast members include Rufus Sewell as Lord Melbourne, Victoria’s first prime minister, Eve Myles, Tommy-Lawrence Knight, Adrian Schiller, Nichola McAuliffe, Daniela Holtz and Nell Hudson, Nigel Lindsay and Alice Orr-Ewing.
The series will open with a 90-minute episode, followed by 7 one-hour episodes.
