Channel 4 brings catch-up subtitles to iPad and iPhone app

channel-4_colourChannel 4 has added subtitles to its iPad and iPhone catch-up app, All 4.

The move means deaf and hearing impaired TV fans can more easily enjoy their favourite Channel 4 shows while on the move.

An update to the All 4 app also brings improvements to the device’s VoiceOver navigation and the ability to Watch shows on your TV with Google Cast.

Rachel Yendoll, Channel 4’s Head of Content Management, said: “We know there’s been a strong demand to provide subtitles on the iOS platform, people can now enjoy watching C4 programmes with subtitles on their iPhones and iPads and we’re delighted that this service is now live.”

“We are one of the leading broadcasters in terms of accessibility and we’re looking forward to rolling out more accessibility features on more platforms in the coming months.”

Channel 4 has provided subtitles on its catch up services via Channel4.com since 2009 and audio-description since 2012 and includes subtitles on 100% of its programmes on broadcast channels, above Ofcom’s mandated 90%.
