Victoria Wood fans can look forward to a triple treat this Christmas as the celebrated comic returns with her first festive special in 9 years and the BBC marks the occasion with two special shows.
Promising sketches, personal injury commercials and a ‘fix’ for lovers of period dramas in the shape of Lark Pies to Cranchesterford, Victoria Wood’s Mid-Life Christmas (BBC One, 9pm) sees Wood reunite with Julie Walters who reprises her Bo Beaumont character, famed for her portrayal of Mrs Overall in the fictional soap Acorn Antiques.
Wood says: “Christmas can be a difficult time for those struggling with that bonnet-free wasteland between the last Lark Rise and the next Cranford”.
Accompanying ‘Mid-Life Christmas’ is a behind-the-scenes special Victoria Wood – What Larks! (BBC One 30th December, 11pm)
Preceding both is Victoria Wood – Seen On TV (BBC Two, 21st December, 8.30pm) which promises to serve up a mixture of interviews with past collaborators, classic sketches and a “candid and revealing interview” with Wood herself.
