UKTV’s W to explore the worlds of amateur sports and dancing

August 22, 2016 - Staff@seenituk

W_channe_LOGO_BLUE_1200UKTV have announced two more original documentaries for its flagship subscription channel, W.

Airing next year, The Dressing Room will take viewers inside the dressing rooms of local sports clubs to meet the people who come together after a tough week to blow off steam and leave their everyday worries behind.

Channel bosses are promising viewers access “to an intimate and emotionally charged world”, where they’ll witness how team mates of all ages interact in the heat of the moment.

The second commission is Dancing for the Weekend, a look at Britain’s vibrant and growing world of amateur dancing.

Each week audiences will see the show’s participants try and juggle their hectic home lives while taking their chances on the Sunday circuit to see if they have what it takes to succeed in sequins.

Both shows join W’s previously announced The Ambulance, which has just finished filming, and original commissions starring Amanda Holden and John Bishop.

Richard Watsham, UKTV’s Director of Commissioning said: “W is evolving quickly as a channel and so too is our strategy for UKTV Originals.

“With huge talents like Amanda Holden and John Bishop on board, and more big names to come, we’ve targeted intelligent, warm and revealing factual series to compliment them.

“The sheer joy and vitality that comes across from seeing our characters’ passions writ large make these modern doc series a perfect fit for our growing audience on W.”
