Roland Emmerich’s new big budget action film White House Down is to get an IMAX release in the United Kingdom, Latin America, and Asia-Pacific in addition to its conventional screen release.
In the film, Channing Tatum plays Capitol Policeman John Cale, who has recently been turned down for a job in President James Sawyer’s (Jamie Foxx) Secret Service protection detail.
Not wanting to disappoint his daughter with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, but the trip coincides with the storming of the building by a heavily armed paramilitary group.
As the government falls into chaos, Cale finds himself at the centre of a major battle to to save his daughter, the president, and the country.
“Time and time again, Roland Emmerich has delivered blockbusters that excite and entertain audiences around the world,” said Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Entertainment.
“We’re thrilled to be working with Sony Pictures and to allow fans to be a part of Roland’s next adventure through the power of The IMAX Experience.”
White House Down will be released in the UK by Columbia Pictures on September 6th.
