Why Game Streaming Services Could Be the Future of the Gaming Industry

July 12, 2019 - Staff@seenituk

Over the last few years, the gaming industry has gone through somewhat of a transitional period, with many developers looking at ways in which to drive the sector forward into a new era. While virtual reality and mobile gaming have illustrated potential pathways into the future of the industry, game streaming is that latest concept which looks set to revolutionise the way in which we play video games.

Google Stadia and Microsoft xCloud

Despite streaming services and video games being widely available on the market for an extensive period of time, it is widely believed that game streaming will be the future of the industry when the two combine in the coming months.

At present, there are almost 150 million Netflix users worldwide, and with such potential in the market, game streaming services could prove to be a huge success.

While the Microsoft xCloud is yet to have an official release date,  Google Stadia will be available from November of this year. The Stadia, much like the xCloud, is a cloud gaming service which only requires an internet connection to function as opposed to additional hardware.

Because Google’s servers will be processing the graphics, there is no need for high-end hardware on the part of the subscribers – they just play the games they prefer.

With the digital era now fully upon us, such streaming services aim to provide gamers with the ability to enjoy a range of games without the need for new software downloads or purchasing titles in disk form.

Moreover, along with developing the industry as a whole, game streaming devices are looking to expand on what is already popular within the market as they seek to open up a world of possibilities for multiplayer gaming.

Convenience and Variation

Much like mobile gaming, streaming services aim to provide users with a convenient service with a wide array of choice. Crucially, as there is no need for additional hardware or hard copies of releases, prospective users are likely to save on both money and time.

Furthermore, as all of the titles will be available from one location, streaming services are adopting an approach which has been immensely popular within the online casino market. Platforms such as Oddschecker promote a range of free spins no deposit offers across various online casino providers which users are able to select from.

The variation which is on offer within the online casino market is one of the reasons for the sector’s recent growth, and with game streaming devices looking to operate in much the same fashion, there are no doubts that the service could be the future of gaming.

Ultimately, devices such as the Google Stadia and Microsoft xCloud have the potential to revolutionise the gaming industry through not only their cost-effective nature, but also due to the convenience and variation which gamers can enjoy.
