YouView adds new internet channels to retail & BT boxes

November 27, 2014 - Staff@seenituk

youview_black_960x540_carouselThree new internet channels – Motors, Vintage TV and RT Doc – have launched on YouView.

The channels, which use Arqiva’s Connect TV streaming service, have long been available to some internet connected Freeview set-top boxes and TVs but until now have been inaccessible on YouView.

However a recent software upgrade which introduced new video streaming capabilities necessary for the BBC’s connected red button means the platform is now able to support the channels.

Retail customers with a Humax branded retail YouView set-top box and those with a YouView box from BT can access the channels from today, TalkTalk customers will need to wait for the upgrade to hit their boxes early next year.

Viewers navigating to these channels will see a prompt to press the Red Button and doing so will automatically launch the video.

Due to limitations with the Connect TV service, viewers will be unable to record, pause, fast forward or rewind on these channels.
