Netgem, which provides set top box software to telecoms providers around the world, has struck a deal to add Amazon Prime Video to its platform.
Telcos use Netgem to differentiate their offerings from those of their rivals and to boost customer retention and revenue by increasing value and ‘stickiness’.
In the UK the firm’s software is used by the BT-owned EE which offers a Freeview/OTT hybrid TV platform to broadband customers.
Netgem describes its Amazon partnership as “a major enhancement” in its offering and one which will “confirm it as one of the most compelling home entertainment platforms on the market.”
Commenting on the deal, Sylvain Thevenot, managing director Operator Solutions for Netgem, said: “Millions of Amazon Prime customers will be able to access Amazon Prime Video’s library of premium movie and TV shows directly on their TV interface without new equipment, or additional subscription.
“This will open a significant new market growth opportunity for our Operator Partners, adopting the latest Netgem Diamond software platform.”
