Apple is now offering iBookstore users the option of gifting ebook titles to friends and family.
The company already offers the ability gift songs, movies or TV shows through iTunes.
The new feature allows books to be gifted immediately or delivered on a chosen date such as a birthday.
In October Apple added support for iBooks to Mac OS X, the operating system for its desktop and laptop models.
Previously the ebook store and reader software were only available on the firm’s iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch mobile devices.
