Apple has confirmed the iPad 2 will be available to buy from 5 p.m this Friday, 25 March and, in a treat for UK customers, prices for the latest model will be lower than for the original iPad.
iPad 2 was unveiled last month by Apple CEO Steve Jobs and is already on sale in the US where shipping times for online orders are currently being quoted as 4-5 weeks.
The “suggested retail prices” for each model is as follows:
16GB WiFi model £399
32GB WiFi model £479
64GB WiFi model £559
16GB WiFi + 3G model £499
32GB WiFi + 3G model £579

By comparison the original 16GB WiFi model cost £429 before Apple reduced prices on the first generation to clear stock ahead of iPad 2 going on sale.
A Smart Cover for the device will set you back £35.00 for the polyurethane version and £59.00 for the leather option.
