Apple’s iTunes Match does work, eventually!

December 16, 2011 - Martin Hoscik@seenituk

After a false start, Apple’s iTunes Match officially launched in the UK tonight.

After signing up for the £21.99 per year service I spent a frustrating hour trying to authorise my MacBook Pro and upload my music.

Each attempt was greeted with an error message asking me to sign out and then back in again.

I tried clearing DNS caches, rebooting my modem, rebooting the MBP endlessly – nothing worked.

Finally, in one of those ‘could this work’ moments, I decided to download a new track from iTunes.

This seemed to be the magic I needed – the downloaded track immediately appeared in a new MUSIC option on my Apple TV and a re-try of connecting my MBP with the Match service resulted in the speedy gathering of info about my music library.

If you’re also experiencing problems, do try downloading the free track of the day from iTunes and, if it helps, let us know.
