BBC axes channel controller posts

January 19, 2016 - Staff@seenituk

bbc-logo-bw-largeThe BBC has abolished two of its most senior positions as it moves towards “a simplified and more co-ordinated” approach of commissioning TV content.

The roles of Controller BBC One and Controller BBC Two and Four are to be merged into a new Controller, TV Channels and iPlayer which will be filled by current BBC One boss Charlotte Moore.

According to a BBC statement “The reorganisation will support new, creative approaches to programming and scheduling that reflect changing audience behaviour and the growing role of BBC iPlayer, as well as encouraging greater collaboration and allowing simpler movement of ideas and talent across the portfolio.

“It will also create a more streamlined commissioning system, with a single point of contact and faster decision-making.”
