The BBC Trust has approved plans to offer radio content for download via the iPlayer.
At present, audiences can only access most BBC Radio content via the streamed online version of iPlayer for up to seven days after the original broadcast.
Unlike radio content, TV shows can be downloaded to a computer or tablet and stored for up to 30 days for watching offline, they then expire 7 days after being viewed.
The BBC Trust’s approval means radio fans will enjoy the same benefits from next year.
