BBC One hires Bond writers Purvis & Wade to adapt Len Deighton’s SS-GB

SS-GB DEIGHTON:A Format PBBond writers Robert Wade and Neal Purvis are adapting Len Deighton’s SS-GB for BBC One.

The duo wrote some of the Bond franchise’s biggest hits, including The World Is Not Enough, Casino Royale and box office smash Skyfall.

Their other writing credits include Johnny English, Rowan Atkinson’s Bond spoof.

The five-part SS-GB is an alternative history thriller set in a world in which the Germans won the Battle Of Britain and now occupy the UK.

Archer, a Scotland Yard detective working under the SS facing the dilemma of whether to effectively collaborate or join the resistance, forcing the audience to confront the question: what would you do, faced with stakes as high as this?

Robert Wade and Neal Purvis said: “Len Deighton’s SS-GB is a brilliant tale of espionage that dares to think the unthinkable, and we are very excited to be adapting it for television.”
