BBC orders more Father Brown and The Coroner

the-coroner-900BBC One has recommissioned its daytime TV drama The Coroner which stars Claire Goose as a high flying solicitor who, after a messy marriage break-up, returns to the seaside town she grew up in to take up the post of Coroner.

The series also stars Casualty’s Matt Bardock as Davey, the local Detective Sergeant.

Produced at Birmingham’s BBC Drama Village, the show will return for ten more episodes which will start shooting in and around South Devon later this year.

Dan McGolpin, Controller BBC Daytime, said: “It has been a fantastic year for original British drama in BBC Daytime and our main supplier has been the Drama Village in Birmingham.

“The Coroner, was extremely well received and we will return to South Devon to investigate more unexplained deaths this autumn.”

BBC bosses have also commissioned a further series of Father Brown which will return for a fifth series.

McGolpin said: “Father Brown goes from strength to strength and continues to be the most popular drama series on daytime television following its fourth series this January, I look forward to series five early next year.”
