Last week’s return of hit comedy series The Big Bang Theory gave E4 its second biggest audience of all time.
More than 3.3 million viewers tuned in to see the first episode of the US comedy’s sixth series, an audience beaten only by an October 2012 episode of The Inbetweeners and a million higher than the show’s previous highest audience of 2.3 million.
The Big Bang Theory’s return attracted a 16-34 audience of 1.6 million (27.2% share) – beating all terrestrial channels in its time slot for the demographic.
Jay Hunt, Channel 4’s Chief Creative Officer said; “Big Bang’s phenomenal success comes just after E4 posted its best ever monthly share for 16-34s and confirms the channel’s position as the number one destination for younger audiences.”
