Five films created for Bombay Sapphire’s annual film competition have received their official premier at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Now in its second year, the Bombay Sapphire Imagination Series challenges new and established filmmakers to turn on a script outline from Oscar winning screen writer Geoffrey Fletcher into an original film.
One of last year’s entries, James W. Griffiths’ Room 8, scooped a BAFTA for best short film.
This year the competition attracted 1,300 entries from around the world, with five winning entries turned into short films.
Earlier this month we were treated to a sneak peek at the winners and came away impressed at the quality, scale and imagination harnessed by the filmmakers.
Our favourite (The Other Side of the Game by Kiara Jones) is embedded below and the full selection can be viewed at youtube.com/BombaySapphire.
“Bombay Sapphire’s support of this exciting and important initiative allows Tribeca and its filmmakers to be at the forefront of festival innovation and cutting edge storytelling,” said Geoffrey Gilmore, Chief Creative Officer of Tribeca Enterprise.
