BT adds Game of Thrones and True Detective to TV platform

May 21, 2015 - Martin Hoscik@seenituk

true_detectiveGame of Thrones, Entourage and True Detective are now available to BT TV customers after the platform signed a new content deal with HBO.

Episodes and complete seasons can be bought via the customer’s set top box and also be watched via the dedicated tablet and smartphone app.

All three shows are available from today, and BT says it’ll be adding more titles to its digital store throughout the year.

The deal allows BT to offer many of the series otherwise only available from Sky Atlantic or Apple’s iTunes store.

Rival TalkTalk also recently announced it would offer Game of Thrones but its customers will need to wait until next month to buy and watch the hit show.

Alex Green, director of BT TV, said: “This is yet another fantastic first for our customers. We are committed to offering the widest choice of on demand and live content, with pricing and flexibility to suit all our customers.

“The new deal with HBO comes at the perfect time for people who want to catch up with world-class TV shows over the long Bank Holiday weekend.

“But of course you get to keep them so you can watch over and over again.”

Sofia Chang, executive vice president and general manager, HBO Home Entertainment, said: “We are excited to extend our digital footprint in the UK by making our content available to BT TV customers.

“More and more fans are looking to own their favourite programmes digitally and this is another step for HBO Home Entertainment to expand its reach in this important market.”
