BT launches its first Ultrafast Fibre broadband packages

BT has launched its first Ultrafast Fibre broadband packages, offering customers a guaranteed 100 megabits per second download speed.

The firm’s consumer division is offering two packages with maximum speeds of 152Mbps and 314Mbps, and says customers will get compensation if their download speed ever falls below 100Mbps.

Prices start from £54.99 a month for Ultrafast Fibre 1, with the Ultrafast Fibre 2 option costing £59.99 a month.

The packages are available to around a quarter of a million homes at launch and include access to five million Wi-fi hotspots and BT’s new Smart Hub which it bills as “the UK’s most powerful wi-fi router versus other broadband providers.”

Marc Allera, chief executive of BT Consumer, said: “We are the first and only company to guarantee speeds of 100Mbps for our customers, even at peak times when people really need their broadband to deliver.

“Ultrafast technology is going to be a vital part of a transformation in the speed that our customers receive.

“Whether it is six in the evening or six in the morning, with Ultrafast Fibre everyone can be online at the same time, streaming, downloading and gaming.

“Rather than spending hours downloading TV shows or films to their smartphone or tablet, they’ll be able to do it in minutes.

“Customers will have complete peace of mind that they can always rely on Ultrafast Fibre, backed up by the promise that we’ll give them £20 if their speed ever falls below 100Mbps.”
