BT teases details of new converged 5G and home broadband service

Marc Allera revealed Halo from BT on Wednesday.
BT is launching a new converged fixed and mobile offering which will give customers unlimited data and calls on mobile and at home as well as support from BT’s newly announced team of Home Tech Experts.

Launching in November, Halo from BT follows the success of the BT Plus service which promises to keep customers connected at all times, even when their home broadband experiences problems.

At a press briefing on Wednesday, BT Consumer boss Marc Allera said Plus subscribers were the most content of all of BT’s customer groups.

Existing Plus subscribers will be the first BT customers able to upgrade to a BT Mobile 5G plan from Friday 11 October and customers who sign up for 5G and Plus plans will be automatically upgraded to Halo from November.

Full details about Halo’s benefits will be announced in the coming weeks.

Media and telecoms analyst Paolo Pescatore from PP Foresight said while BT was “well placed” to deliver converged services and differentiate itself in a highly competitive market, “this move should have been made some time.

He added: “There are no more excuses, it must execute.”
