The much-anticipated return of Dallas attracted audiences of almost 7m – the highest ratings for drama premiere on a cable channel this year.
The series returned to US households on Wednesday to audiences of 6.8m and will be shown in the UK later this year by Channel 5.
The 10-part series sees Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray reprise their roles of J.R., Bobby and Sue Ellen Ewing opposite Josh Henderson and Jesse Metcalfe as J.R. & Bobby’s sons John Ross and Christopher.
Also joining the cast are Jordana Brewster as Elena, a girl involved in a love triangle with Ewing cousins, Julie Gonzalo as Christopher’s fiancée Rebecca and Brenda Strong as Bobby’s new wife Ann.
The show has received mixed reviews from US critics but online reaction from viewers has been largely positive.
