Digital access champion Martha Lane-Fox to deliver Dimbleby lecture

lastminute.com co-founder and digital inclusion champion Baroness Martha Lane-Fox is to deliver the 2015 Richard Dimbleby Lecture.

This year’s is the 39th annual lecture held in honour of the veteran broadcaster and will be presented by Jonathan Dimbleby.

Baroness Lane-Fox is the latest in a distinguished line of speakers which includes Christine Lagarde, Bill Gates, Sir Terry Pratchett, and The Prince of Wales.

Since co-founding lastminute.com in 1998, the entrepreneur has become one of the UK’s leading champions of digital inclusion.

In 2013 she joined the House of Lords as crossbencher and is currently Chancellor of the Open University and chair of Go On UK, a charity which aims to increase Britain’s internet access and basic digital skills.

Jonathan Dimbleby says: “Martha Lane Fox is a pioneer who has reached the top. But when she looks at the Brave New World that is spread out before her, she sees dark shadows as well as sunlight uplands. That is why I am looking forward to her Dimbleby Lecture.”
