The BBC has announced that Peter Capaldi’s feature-length Doctor Who debut, Deep Breath, will be shown at 7.50pm on August 23rd.

While the air date has been long-known, the episode’s time slot has been kept a closely guarded secret until now.

The episode marks Capaldi’s first appearance as the Doctor since taking over the role from Matt Smith at the end of the Christmas special. Capaldi will be joined by Jenna Coleman who returns as companion Clara.

Producers have lined-up a host of big name guess stars including Sanjeev Bhaska, Michelle Gomez, Frank Skinner, Ben Miller, Tom Riley, Keeley Hawes and Hermione Norris for the show’s eighth series.

The first episode sees the Doctor and Clara arrive in Victorian London where they find a dinosaur rampant in the Thames and a spate of deadly spontaneous combustions.

The duo investigate while also coming to terms with the Doctor’s regeneration and what it means for their friendship.
