Ahead of the final Doctor Who of the series this weekend, which will see Peter Capaldi start to regenerate, the bookies make Kris Marshall the red-hot 1/6 favourite to take control of the Tardis next, followed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge at 7/2.

“Throughout betting on this market, we have seen quite a few favourites, however, Kris Marshall has always been near the head of the market

“He is such a short price that it looks highly likely that he has the job in the bag already,” said William hill spokesman Joe Crilly.

To replace Peter Capaldi as the next Doctor Who:

1/6 Kris Marshall;
7/2 Phoebe Waller Bridge;
16/1 Luke Treadaway;
20/1 David Harewood
20/1 Michaela Coel
20/1 Richard Rankin
20/1 Tilda Swinton
25/1 Kayvan Novak
25/1 Maxine Peake
25/1 Olivia Colman
