EA brings gaming to Trafalgar Square

Games giant Electronic Arts has announced its Be the One event is to return to London’s iconic Trafalgar Square as part of this year’s London Games Festival.  

On October 31 and November 1, the British public will be able to play some of the latest games including yet to be released titles and compete for the chance to challenge a host of celebrities live on stage.

The free event officially opens on the evening of Thursday, October 30 with a spectacular public premiere event for the highly-acclaimed and long-awaited Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, which will launch  on 31st October for PC and Xbox 360. 

A spokesman for EA said the company expects thousands to descend on the square across the two days. 

The events return has been welcomed by London Mayor Boris Johnson who said: “I am pleased to see EA’s Be the One event is returning to Trafalgar Square. It was an undoubted highlight of last year’s festival, which reinforces London’s position at the centre of one the most fastest-growing creative industries in the world.”

Keith Ramsdale, Vice President for EA in the UK, Ireland and Nordics added: “Be the One showcases our games in a highly entertaining event format and gives novices and experienced gamers alike the chance to get their hands on some of the hottest games this season.  Along with our friends from the world of sport, showbiz and music we’ll be looking to delight and entertain as many people as possible. It will be an event that you won’t want to miss this half term.”
