Billy Elliot the Musical and the National Theatre’s productions of Medea and A Streetcar Named Desire are among the plays being shown at Empire Cinemas next month.

The screenings are part of the chain’s Empire Extra programme which brings major stage productions to audiences for a fraction of the theatre ticket price.

Confirmed screenings include the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Two Gentlemen of Verona (September 3rd), Medea (September 4th), A Streetcar Named Desire (16th September) and Billy Elliot the Musical (September 28th).

Jon Nutton, Marketing Director of Empire Cinemas, said: “We’re delighted to offer Billy Elliot fans the opportunity to experience a special performance of the multi-award winning musical in our cinemas.

“We are equally thrilled to be screening Medea, Two Gentleman of Verona and the critically acclaimed A Streetcar Named Desire, forming one of our strongest ever Empire Extra line-ups.

“We’re very proud to be showcasing the country’s best theatrical performances, starring international superstars, at Empire Cinemas this September”.
