Bookseller Foyles is offering customers a bundled ebook edition of their purchase when they buy one of eight HarperCollins hardbacks titles.

The promotion is thought to be the first time hardback and ebook editions have been bundled by a UK high street bookshop.

The physical book will come with a voucher code for the eBook version included inside which can be redeemed via Foyles’ eBook service.

Customers will be able to visit www.foyles.co.uk/bundles and enter the unique code to download their eBook in ePub format.

The book can be read on phones and tablets using the Foyles eReading app (a free download from the Apple iTunes store or Android GooglePlay Store), or on any eReader or desktop that accepts Adobe-DRM’d ePub titles.

The eight titles available to buy as ‘ebook bundles’ are:

Catastrophe by Max Hastings
Americanah by Chimimanda Ngozi Adichie

As Luck Would Have It by Derek Jacobi

Faster Than Lightning by Usain Bolt

The Pagan Lord by Bernard Cornwell

Sense and Sensibility by Joanna Trollope
Valley of Amazement by Amy Tan

The Demon Dentist by David Walliams

Foyles say the ebook bundles will cost around £5 more than buying the hardback alone.

CEO Sam Husain says: “ebook bundling is something that Foyles customers regularly ask for so we’re really pleased to partner with HarperCollins to offer more choice and convenience for readers. It will allow customers more flexibility to enjoy hardback books at home and carry the eBook version with them when travelling, or to give books as gifts.”

Charlie Redmayne, CEO of HarperCollins added: “HarperCollins is always keen to experiment with getting our authors’ work into the hands of readers in as many different formats as possible.  We are delighted to be part of this industry first with Foyles and are very much looking forward to seeing how readers respond.”
