GoSpoken.com, the mobile phone based eBook service, has further cemented its dominance of the sector with a new deal to supply content via Vodafone’s 360 platform.
Owners of Vodafone 360 mobiles will be able to download “hundreds” of German and English ebooks including bestsellers like the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer, Stieg Larsson’s Millennium trilogy and Andy McNab’s Brute Force.
It’s expected that the service will eventually offer thousands of free and paid for ebooks in a number of languages.
Amer Hasan, Senior Manager, Apps & Developer Marketing at Vodafone Group said mobile books “constitute a new growth opportunity and are an exciting addition to the range of content on the Vodafone 360 Shop.”
Free extracts will be available for some titles to encourage users to experience the fluidity & mobility of reading books on their handset.
Andy McNab, author and co-founder of GoSpoken.com said: “Vodafone 360 is a very exciting platform for us as it allows us to reach a huge potential customer base internationally that can pay for eBooks with their mobile phones.
“Mobile books are the perfect boredom buster; it allows me to read or listen to quality content I otherwise would not have time for.”
The company is also expected to shortly launch an “on-device book shop” app for the iPhone and Blackberry ranges.
