Inbetweeners and Cuckoo star Greg Davies is writing and starring in a new Channel 4 sitcom.

In Man Down Davies plays Dan, a childish idiot trapped in an adult’s life, kept down by crushing character flaws, an unwanted teaching job, uniquely dysfunctional friends and a wilfully insane Dad.

Dan’s listless teaching career sees him begrudgingly teach a version of the same lesson every day, inexplicably popular with all but one of the pupils, with his only highlight coming in the form of Miss Lipsey (Jeanny Spark), a head mistress who views Dan with a mixture of pity and despair.

The series also stars Deirdre Mullins as Dan’s girlfriend Naomi, Rik Mayall as his dad and Roisin Conaty and Mike Wozniak as best friends Jo and Brian.

Man Down is being produced by Avalon Television and will air on Channel 4 this autumn.
