Harlequin (UK), publishers of the Mills & Boon and Mira imprints, has launched Carina UK, a new digital publishing imprint.
Harlequin says it will use Carina UK to “engage both aspiring and established authors” to reach broader audiences across all digital media and that authors will work with its editorial and marketing teams “to develop and promote great stories.”
Carina UK is specifically looking for authors from the UK, Ireland and other markets such as India and South Africa.
Alison Norrington – the founder of storycentralDIGITAL, known for her work in extending the reach of the written word across digital formats, and an accomplished novelist, playwright and journalist – will be working with the Carina UK editorial team to help discover exciting talent and develop entertaining content that appeals to global and local readership.
“Publishing with Carina will be a dynamic and collaborative process,” says Harlequin UK Managing Director Mandy Ferguson. “This is a new digital venture for Harlequin UK but digital publishing is not new for us as we have been publishing digital first and digital only content since 2008.
“We’re applying our publishing experience and knowledge to the Carina business to work with stories regardless of genre or style, length or subject. It’s an exciting prospect for any author whether they’re just starting out or have been writing for many years.”
