This August Bank Holiday prepare to be re-acquainted with some of the best 70s and 80s TV sleuths as True Entertainment airs a selection of pilot episodes from some of the era’s most enduring shows, including Hart To Hart and Charlie’s Angels.
Airing from Saturday 24th August will be:
Hart To Hart: Pilot – Part 1 & 2 – 2pm, 3pm
Self-made millionaire Jonathan (Robert Wagner) and journalist Jennifer Hart (Stefanie Powers) lead the ultimate wealthy lifestyle, but it’s not all jet-setting and glamour. Soon the crime-fighting couple find themselves wrapped up in cases of theft, espionage and the most dangerous of all – murder. Taking on the role of amateur sleuths, the Harts are assisted by butler/cook/chauffeur Max and last but not least, their loyal canine companion Freeway. This year also marks the 40th anniversary of Hart To Hart, since its beginning in 1979.
Charlie’s Angels: feature length pilot – 4pm
Catch the heavenly trio of detectives in their first ever feature length episode, first seen in 1976. Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett and Jaclyn Smith star as the infamous ‘Charlie’s Angels’ – named after their mysterious boss and never-seen businessman Charlie Townsend. Directed only by speakerphone and with the help of personal assistant Bosley, Charlie sends his Angels out into the perilous world of crime, corruption and cracking cases.
TJ Hooker: feature length pilot – 5.30pm
When veteran detective Thomas Jefferson (T.J) Hooker’s partner is killed in a bank robbery gone wrong, T.J (William Shatner) decides that the only real way to fight crime is to stop ‘pencil-pushing’ and return to the streets as a uniformed policeman. The pilot first aired in 1982 so let True Entertainment take you back to the beginning, where T.J Hooker spearheads a police officer recruitment program, marking the start of the successful cop show that continued for 5 seasons.
Starsky & Hutch: feature length pilot – 7pm
Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul star as hip plain-clothed detectives Dave Starsky and Ken ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson as they drive around San Francisco, taking on drug dealers, thugs and more in their flashy 1974 red Torino. Aided by smooth-talking informant Huggy Bear, the dapper duo first charmed TV audiences back in 1975 with this feature length pilot involving a double homicide and mistaken identity.
True Entertainment, which will become Sony Channel as of September 10th, is available on Freeview 48, Sky 179, Freesat 142 and Virgin 189
