IMAX comes to Bluewater

November 1, 2013 - Staff@seenituk

IMAXisbelieving_blueKent’s Bluewater Shopping Centre is to get its very own IMAX cinema.

The screen is the result of a deal between the IMAX Corporation and Showcase Cinemas, part of National Amusements, Inc, which operates cinemas at 20 UK locations.

National Amusements operates more than 850 screens globally and has been an IMAX partner since 2001, with a total of five IMAX cinemas in the US, Brazil and Argentina.

“We have been operating IMAX cinemas for many years and have seen first-hand how IMAX drives incremental revenue for an entire cinema complex,” said Shari Redstone, President of National Amusements.

“When it comes to presenting epic entertainment, the IMAX format is world-class and we are delighted to bring this unique cinematic experience to our patrons in the UK.”

“We are pleased National Amusements is expanding its IMAX footprint to the UK – particularly to a site that ranks among the nation’s five highest-grossing multiplexes and is located in one of the busiest shopping centres in the UK,” said Andrew Cripps, President, IMAX EMEA.

“National Amusements has been a tremendous IMAX operator and we look forward to even more success together as we continue our network expansion across Europe.”
