Inbetweeners film is UK’s biggest opening comedy

Days after a successful £2.5m opening night, the team behind the big screen Inbetweeners spin-off are celebrating the film’s status as the biggest opening of all time for a UK comedy.

The film, which stars Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison as four teens on their first lads’ holiday, has taken £13,196,422 across 455 screens.

The number 2 biggest opening British comedy is Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason taking £10.43 million, number 3 is Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit with £9.37 million, Mamma Mia! takes the number 4 position with £6.59 million and Mr. Bean’s Holiday is number 5 with £6.44 million.
