iPad takes 22% of eBook market

Apple’s iPad tablet has taken 22% of the US eBook market just two months after being launched according to company supremo Steve Jobs.

The device offers a number of eBook options including Apple’s own iBookstore and an App for Amazon’s Kindle.

Addressing delegates at the 2010 WWDC in San Francisco earlier this week, Jobs said: “Publishers tell us that sales of there eBook sales are at 22% right now. 22% in iBooks.”

Jobs also announced that iBooks would come to the iPhone later this year with users able to download their existing purchases to their iPhones as well as access bookmarks across multiple devices.
