ITV’s Endeavour returns for its third series on Sunday 3rd January.
The second series ended with the young Morse (Shaun Evans) languishing in prison having been framed for the murder of Chief Constable Rupert Standish and mentor Fred Thursday’s (Roger Allam) life hanging in the balance after being shot in the chest.
Series three sees the arrival of Former Skins and Golden Compass actress Dakota Blue Richards as new regular character, WPC Shirley Trewlove.
Described as “thorough, determined and forthright,” viewers will see Trewlove quickly impress Morse when he encounters her in the second film of the show’s third series.
Fans will be pleased to know that Thursday is back alongside Morse for the new run of four films.
Evans says of the pair’s relationship: “In the first and fourth films their relationship is in a very funny place. Thursday has less time ahead of him, than he does behind him, especially as a policeman.
“It makes him act out of character, which drives them apart. Ultimately they come back together; ultimately they find a new level of mutual respect. But it’s a new and interesting dynamic.”
