Jacobi short shortlisted for Oscar

Derek Jacobi and Rupert Evans star in Sidney Turtlebaum
A short film starring Derek Jacobi as a man who steals from grieving strangers at funerals has been shortlisted for an Oscar in the Best Live Action Short Film category.

In Sidney Turtlebaum, Jacobi plays the title role of a smooth-talking gay man in the twilight of his life who draws handsome young escort Gabriel, played by rising star Rupert Evans, into his strange world, with bitter-sweet consequences.

The film is set the heart of London’s Jewish community in Golders Green and is currently being developed into a full-length feature film by Portobello Pictures and Third Man Films with Jacobi attached to star.

Sidney Turtlebaum is directed by BAFTA nominated director, Tristram Shapeero, (GREEN WING, PEEP SHOW ), written by BAFTA nominated writer Raphael Smith and produced by Daniel Jewel.
