Jamelia to guest star in BBC One’s Death in Paradise

July 20, 2012 - Staff@seenituk

Filming is underway on the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe for a second series of hit BBC One drama Death in Paradise.

The series stars Ben Miller as quintessential English detective, DI Richard Poole; a detective who is not so keen on sun, sea and sand but has found himself living and working on the paradise island of most people’s dreams.

Produced by Red Planet Pictures, Death in Paradise also stars Sara Martins, Danny John-Jules, Don Warrington and Gary Carr.

The second series features a host of guest stars who find themselves caught up in murders waiting to be solved by Poole and the Saint Marie police team.

Among the guest stars is singer-songwriter Jamelia who will make her TV acting debut in the series.

Jamelia commented: “I’m so excited – not only am I in a great drama filming my first TV role but I’m doing it in the Caribbean too!  I’m really looking forward to working with such a talented cast.”

Belinda Campbell, Executive Producer for Red Planet Pictures said: “We have a wonderful cast for Death in Paradise and our list of guest stars are equally exciting.  Jamelia in particular was such a surprise find; she is not only a talented singer but actress too.

“The stories for this series are full of humour and intrigue and hopefully the whole family will have fun trying to work out whodunit each week.  We can’t wait to bring a bit of Caribbean sunshine back to the cold and wet UK!”

Polly Hill, Executive producer for BBC Ones, added: “Death in Paradise was a real hit with the BBC One audience who enjoyed the weekly instalments of light hearted murder mystery in a beautiful Caribbean setting.  The show is part of a wide range of drama programming across the BBC which includes Ripper Street and Hunted.”

Death in Paradise will return to BBC One early next year.
