Lovefilm brings Marvel Anime to UK

ANIME FANS IN FOR A TREAT AS MARVEL SERIES PREMIERE ON AMAZON’S LOVEFiLMFans of Marvel’s superhero stable can now enjoy “groundbreaking” Anime versions of their favourite caped heroes thanks to Amazon’s Lovefilm.

The streaming service has signed up the UK premiere of four new series featuring vampire hunter Blade, Tony Stark’s alter ego Iron Man, the fearsome Wolverine and mutant superheroes X-Men.

Produced by Marvel in collaboration with ‘Japanimation’ studio Madhouse, the shows feature characters such as Wolverine and X-Men re-imagined and re-purposed within a Japanese landscape.

The series merge the familiar Marvel superheroes of Western culture with the bold animation tradition of Japan.

Chris Bird, Director of Content Strategy at Lovefilm, said: “What makes this new deal exciting is that we now have the opportunity to reawaken the passion for the series among existing fans, but also pave the way for a whole new group of viewers to be introduced to the genre.”
