Microsoft is hoping to make up lost ground in the console wars by cutting the price of its new Xbox One console.
From Friday the next generation Xbox will cost £399 in the UK including a copy of the Titanfall game.
Despite the price cut, Microsoft’s console will still be £50 more expensive than the standalone Playstation 4 which is understood to have outsold it in all markets, in part thanks to its lower price.
Last week Sony announced it had sold more than 5.3 million PlayStation 4 consoles, with some industry analysts suggesting this is around twice as many as the Xbox One.
The higher price point is attributed to Microsoft’s decision to bundle its new console with Kinect controller which allows players to use gestures to control the device.
