Bond producers are celebrating after Quantum of Solace, Daniel Craig’s second outing as the UK’s top spy, made box office history for a second time this weekend as it opened to an incredible £15.4million at the UK box office – the biggest weekend opening of all time.
The previous record was held by Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which took £14.93million.
Quantum of Solace has also robbed Craig’s debut as 007 of the accolade of most successful opening for a Bond film. 2006’s Casino Royale took £11.4m on its opening 3-day weekend.
Producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said, “We are absolutely delighted that Quantum of Solace has broken box office records in the UK and would like to thank the British public for going to the cinema in such incredible numbers to see James Bond in his 22nd adventure.”
