Movie purchasing comes to Sky Store

April 15, 2015 - Staff@seenituk

Sky_logo_900Sky has added ‘buy to keep’ digital downloads to its multi-platform Sky Store movie rental service.

The updated service is available on Sky’s own set top boxes, via skystore.com and a new Sky Store app for Android and iOS, as well on NOW TV, Roku and YouView set top boxes.

Due to Apple’s restrictions on in-app purchases, iPad and iPhone users will be limited to viewing purchases purchased online or through another device.

Available titles include latest blockbusters such as The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and Paddington, as well as all-time classics like Avatar, Back to the Future or Wizard of Oz. New releases are priced £13.99 and older titles £7.99.

In addition to being able to stream their purchases direct to the TV or download them to their device, customers will also receive a DVD copy of their purchases.

Nicola Bamford, Director of Sky Store said, “People want the simplest and most convenient way to buy and watch the movies they love, which is why it’s great news that from today Buy & Keep will be available to everyone and across multiple devices.

“Sky Store offers the complete service – straight to your TV, across your devices and you get the DVD in the post too”.

New releases are £13.99 and catalogue favourites are £7.99. Most Buy & Keep movies are also available on early release, which means they are available on Sky Store before the DVD is available to buy in the shops.

Sky Store Buy & Keep has been a huge hit with Sky customers since its launch in April 2014, with Sky Store regularly being the number 1 digital retailer in the UK for new movie releases. In the future, the service will expand to include TV and movie boxsets.
