Sky UK is expanding its download to keep store (Sky Store) to include movie and TV boxsets, with customers who buy from it receiving an instant digital download followed by a DVD copy in the post.

Purchases can be made and watched on range of set top boxes, including Sky+HD, Sky Q, NOW TV Box, Roku or YouView, as well as via smartphone and tablet apps.

Boxsets available from launch include House of Cards, Homeland, Breaking Bad, Blacklist as well as the Fast & Furious, Toy Story and Pitch Perfect movie franchises.

Movie Box Sets start from £13.99 and TV Box Sets from £22.99.

BT, with which Sky competes for major sporting rights, already offers TV and movie boxsets which can be watched via its set top boxes as well as mobile apps. However, unlike Sky’s service, customers need a BT TV contract to use its store.

Director of Sky Store Kathryn Lacey said: “Sky Store Buy & Keep continues to be a huge hit and as the UK’s regular number 1 digital retailer for new movie releases it is a natural next step for us to provide customers with the opportunity to own their favourite Box Sets.

“Buy & Keep Box Sets is the first of many exciting initiatives we have planned for Sky Store.”

Sky has also announced plans to expand Sky Store to Germany and Austria in Summer 2017.
