National Geographic Channel is bringing viewers a new series of prison escapes in Breakout: Britain’s Island Fortress, which premieres Friday April 5th at 9pm.

The series tells the dramatic stories of some of the most ingenious jailbreaks in recent history, as well as the detective work that led to the successful recapture of some escapees.

In this preview clip we meet Matthew Williams who plotted one of the most daring escapes ever from a UK jail.

Imprisoned in the Isle of Wight’s Parkhurst, one of the world’s highest-security prisons, Williams and two fellow prisoners made it beyond the prison walls.

For the first time ever he reveals exclusively on NGC exactly how he did it, his terrifying stint on the run and how his escape was ended by swarms of British police officers.
