National Geographic tells more tales of travellers Banged Up Abroad

October 3, 2011 - Staff@seenituk

Banged Up Abroad returns tonight for a new season on the National Geographic Channel.

The documentary series tells the true-life tales of every traveller’s worst fear – imprisonment abroad, where an exotic holiday can turn into a living hell in the blink of an eye.

The first episode focuses on notorious former mobster Henry Hill, often known as ‘The Real Goodfella’ after providing the inspiration for Martin Scorsese’s movie.

The episode features action-packed re-enactments and Hill himself recounting some of his most notorious crimes – documenting his descent from Mafia wiseguy to a spell in Terminal Island Penitentiary.

Future episodes tell the stories of Brigene Young, locked up in a Mauritian jail for heroin trafficking aged only 20, and tale of Chris Chance, a former soldier thrown into a notorious Spanish prison after being convicted of smuggling 500kg of hashish.
