BBC Three has released this brand-new image to mark the end of filming on its Doctor Who spin-off, Class.

Written by Young Adult author Patrick Ness, Class is an eight-part series set in Coal Hill School, the school attended by the Doctor’s granddaughter in the show’s original 1963 debut episode and more recently shown as the workplace of former companion Clara Oswald.

Taking place in contemporary London, the show features a group of Coal Hill sixth formers and stars Greg Austin, Fady Essayed, Sophie Hopkins, Vivian Oparah, Katherine Kelly, Nigel Betts, Paul Marc Davis, Anna Shaffer and Cyril Nri.

Class is the fourth spin-off from Doctor Who and follows 1981’s K-9 and Company, which failed to get past the original pilot episode, Torchwood and The Sarah-Jane Adventures which ran for five series until star Elisabeth Sladen’s death in 2011.

Speaking last year, Ness said: “I can’t wait for people to meet the heroes of Class, to meet the all-new villains and aliens, to remember that the horrors of the darkest corners of existence are just about on par with having to pass your A-Levels.”

Class will debut this Autumn.
