Ocean’s Twelve Revisited

It is a common norm for caper movies to conclude with heist masters basking in retirement. However, due to unavoidable circumstances, they are forced to embark on the ‘Mission Finale.’ Steven Soderbergh has done an incredible job in his sequel movie Ocean’s Twelve.

Rest assured, you will never get bored with this movie as it features common figures like George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Andy Garcia, and Don Cheadle.

You remember in the previous sequel, Ocean’s Eleven, Benedict was the owner of Bellagio Casinoin Las Vegas which the eleven main characters in this sequel, stole some good amount of money. And as the movie starts, you will see Rusty Ryan enjoying his stay in Rome where he has an affair with a gorgeous detective. One night, Ryan visits her and she told him about a case she is investigating and he immediately realized that it will hit back to him and escapes the restaurant.

On the other side, Danny and Tess have just moved into their newly purchased home where they plan to make a fresh start with their lives. He gets a surprise visit from Benedict, who is accompanied by two cruel-looking twins to demand what is rightfully his. The director is keen not to allow Danny and Tess to call the other heist colleagues because he wants to introduce each one of them and their current lifestyle. This is one of the major challenges of a sequel movie.

Will they be able to refund the whole amount of about $19 million apiece or will they be thrown in jail?

The two weeks ultimatum from the casino owner, Benedict, forces them to have an urgent meeting in an old isolated factory. Everyone was ready and willing to repay the debt except for Saul, who has decided to quit conning games for good. There is, in fact, a new rival, the Night Fox, who they consider to be smarter than them. in one of their conversations concerning the security of their targets, Pitt is heard saying, “In the physical universe we live in, it cannot be done. But Night Fox can do it.”

Their plans usually consume a lot of time. Take an example of a wealthy man in Amsterdam living in a highly secured house with his treasures. According to the available intel, the security alarms can only be bypassed by manipulating a control pad which is on the inner side of the wall. How will they get access to it?

They have come up with a plan which requires them to get underneath the house which rests beside a canal on underwater pylons. in order to get the access, they will be required to push up the house one inch high using hydraulic lifts to give them space to make a shot with an arrow. Their main goal is to steal a highly valuable document but to their disappointment, they only find a small box containing an audio player. Here is what the message said:

“In arriving second, Mr. Ocean, you have joined a long of people who have worked very hard and risked a great deal only to get somewhere second. You don’t know any of these people by name, of course, because they enter oblivion. You know this word, oblivion? It means to be totally forgotten by everyone forever.” With this voice message, they immediately connect dots and finds out the person who sold them out to Benedict. The Night Fox had beaten them in the game. In fact, he despises Ocean and his accomplices.

It was not late before an investigation into the disappearance of the document was initiated and surprisingly, the agent in charge agent in charge of the case was Isabel, Rusty’s former girlfriend. She later finds out that both Rusty and the Night Fox broke into the compound the same night but it was the Night Fox who stole it. With this evidence, she heads straight to arresting Frank who, she uses to trace the whereabouts of Rusty.

After long hours of contemplating, Danny Ocean and the crew finds out that the real identity of the Night Fox is Francois Toulour. They blamed him for interfering with their plan by stealing his precious paintings. Danny decides to explain why he had to betray them to Benedict and they both agree on a contest where they are supposed to steal Faberge Coronation Egg. This information leaks to the detective in charge using Rusty’s stolen phone.

At this point, Nagel approaches the crew with his amazing device which can present a holographic image of the Faberge Coronation Egg. Toulour, with his genius tricks, has managed to impersonate a hotel staff. On the d-day, they are all in set in their positions, but luckily, detective Lahiri had everything under control.
