Ray Bradbury’s classic Fahrenheit 451 debuts on eBook

The US division of Simon & Schuster has published the first ever eBook edition of Ray Bradbury’s classic Fahrenheit 451.

Set in a future American society where reading is outlawed and firemen start fires to burn books, the novel was first published ni 1953.

Considered one of the great American novels, it has never been out of print and has been translated into 33 languages and published in 38 countries.

In a new deal with Bradbury, Simon & Schuster secured English language mass market rights in North America to Bradbury’s The Martian Chronicles and The Illustrated Man as well as Fahrenheit 451.

The agreement was negotiated by Simon & Schuster Publisher Jonathan Karp and Bradbury’s agent, Michael Congdon of Don Congdon Associates.

“It’s a rare and wonderful opportunity to continue our relationship with this beloved and canonical author and to bring his work s to new a generation of readers and in new formats” said Jonathan Karp.

“We are honored to be the champion of these classic works.”
