Written and directed by Oren Moverman (The Messenger, Rampart), TIME OUT OF MIND follows George (Richard Gere), an increasingly desperate man who finds himself adrift on the unforgiving streets of New York City.
When he seeks refuge at Bellevue Hospital, Manhattan’s largest intake centre for homeless men, he befriends a seasoned shelter-dweller (Ben Vereen) and begins to find hope of repairing his relationship with his estranged daughter (Jena Malone).
With a successful career spanning four decades, TIME OUT OF MIND sees Gere (who also acts as a Producer on the film) immerse himself in the role of George – navigating the bureaucratic troubles of shelters in New York City, providing additional insight into urban poverty, challenging our perception of the homeless and bringing compassion to a group of people who are often neglected by society.
On making the film, Oren Moverman commented; “TIME OUT OF MIND is not a movie with answers. It’s a movie with a lot of questions that lead to the possibility of compassion. There are no bad guys in this story. There are no good guys in this story”.
The film will be released in Cinemas on March 4.
