The stars of Iron Man 3 will be in London tonight (Thursday 18th) for the film’s UK premiere.
Actors Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man) and Gwyneth Paltrow (Pepper Potts) are among the cast members expected to attend.
Other stars of the film include Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall and a scene-stealing Ben Kingsley as villain ‘The Mandarin’.
Following from the events in Avengers Assemble, Stark is a troubled man, plagued by insomnia and anxiety attacks.
His troubles are worsened when The Mandarin emerges as a threat to US security and, setting the scene for an eventual climatic showdown, robs Stark of his world and threatens those he loves.
Alone and at his lowest ebb, Stark must confront his own inner demons and re-find his place in the world if he’s to have a chance of defeating The Mandarin.
Speaking at Wednesday’s press conference, Downey Jr. said he and the film’s writers “figured after Avengers we couldn’t go for more of a spectacle” and so decided to take the story down to a more human level which explored the character’s inner layers.
“We asked the question: ‘Would he be a little bit freaked out?’ and then that become part of the theme.”
The actor said the reaction of preview audiences was that “we did this correctly”.
The film goes on general release on 25th April 2013, check back nearer the time for our review.
